My home country has been dealing with almost similar situation. The radical muslims, try to mark what is "halal" and "not halal", including the company you work for, the mortgage scheme, all the way to cooking oil. People who believe them quit their job, sell their houses and pay the mortgage, move their children from a public school to muslim schools, etc. They created syaria bank, syaria shops, muslim private schools, etc. I don't mind at all, it's their rights.

But now we have an increase of unemployment because the so call "halal" jobs are limited (mainly as preachers). The halal economy they try to create doesn't really develop well because it's not competitive with the market (let's say the cooking oil price is higher than regular supermarket). They don't have houses, they cannot pay the private muslim schools for their children, including some fraud syaria investment companies that take their money and runaway.

I don't think we are as divisive as America, but it surely hold us back from our endless possibilities. And considering the current state of US economy, I hope at one point, you all can find a way to unite and move forward for the better.
