I'm Indonesian, born and raise in Jakarta, lived in Bali from 2016 - 2020. It's interesting what you wrote here.

In Indonesian culture, holding your kids hands when crossing the street means that you take care of your kids. It's an act of love. It's just a different culture thing.

As for the traffic and pollution, I appreciate your suggestions. We are actually aware of that and try to do something about it. It's a SLOW process , so we just have to wait patiently. If you don't satisfy with how your government works, we feel the same with our own government.
