On another note, if your government provides affordable childcare, both parents can work and contribute to the society. Both parents will pay tax, spend more money to purchase things, basically growing the economy.

If women have to stay at home because let's say they don't have parents who can help them or they cannot afford a childcare, your government basically losing one source of tax. And to be honest, women is the largest population, so that is a big chunk of tax loss.
